Prof. T.P. Muhamed Kunhi - first alumnus of Farook College to become a member of faculty  in Farook College.

Prof. T.P. MuhammedKunhi, who passed away on 23 February 2013, was a student of Farook College for the Intermediate Course, and later became a teacher here. Born on 16 December 1932 at Payyannore, he later settled at Talipparamba—in Kannur District. After getting his Master’s from Presidency College Madras, he worked at Usmania College, Karnul, from 1954 to 1956 as Lecturer in English. On 1 June 1956 he joined Farook College as Lecturer and served the alma mater till 19 October 1965, when he took over as Principal, M.E.S .College, Mampad, and continued there up to 1970. In 1982 Prof. T.P. assumed charge as Principal, E.M.E.A. College Kondotty. In 1985, he shifted to Sir Syed College, Taliparamba, assuming duties as Head of the Department of English, and in 1987 took over as Principal there; he retired in the same year.

Prof MuhammedKunhi served as Member of several academic bodies including the Board of Studies, University of Calicut; Faculty of Arts, University of Calicut; Senate, University of Calicut; Board of Studies, M.G. University; General Council, Kerala Agricultural University; and Statutory Committee. He was also President of KavvayiJamaath Committee.

Prof. T.P. had also been Vice-President of Farook College Alumni Association. His family is related to Farook College in several respects. While he himself was a student of Farook College in the second batch, his wife K.V. Jameela was the first woman student of the College when admissions were thrown open to girls in 1959. One of his daughters is married to Dr. T.A. Mohammed, son of the late Prof. T Abdulla, and Head of the Department of Islamic History, Farook College.
